Women in Prison Outreach Program

About 40 percent of female inmates in the federal prison system were victims of physical and/or sexual abuse before arriving at prison, according to 1999 statistics from the U.S. Department of Justice. FVLC offers domestic violence support groups for women in prison at the Federal Correctional Institute in Dublin, California.

Our goal is to help these women use their time away from their abuser to understand the violence they have experienced, and to help them improve their self-esteem so that they will be able to create healthy relationships when they are released.

Safe at Home Confidential Address Program

FVLC is a participating agency in the Safe at Home program. Safe at Home is a project of the California State Government. It was created to protect women by providing a private address in the form of a P.O. Box. This will help prevent abusers from finding the victim’s location. FVLC has staff that are trained and certified to sign up victims of domestic violence for this protection free of charge.
