SUPPORT FVLC

Our Mission

Family Violence Law Center (FVLC) seeks to end family violence in Alameda County by providing legal, prevention and counseling services for survivors of domestic violence, by changing individual and community perceptions about relationship abuse, and by advocating for change within the legal, health, education, and criminal justice systems.

Our History

FVLC was founded in 1978 by a small group of domestic violence survivors who wished to increase the availability of emergency legal and support services for battered women and their children. At that time, all services were provided in the kitchen “office” of the founding director. Last year, FVLC provided legal, support, and crisis intervention services to more than 10,000 women and their families in Alameda County.
